The body of prominent writer and columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury was brought to Dhaka on Saturday morning.
AKM Mozammel Haque, liberation war affairs minister, Dr Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, agriculture minister and some senior leaders of the Awami League received his body at the airport at 11 am.
Chowdhury’s body will be kept at the Central Shaheed Minar from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm for people to pay tributes. Later at 4 pm, his body will be taken to the National Press Club.
Chowdhury breathed his last in a London hospital on May 19 aged 88.
According to Chowdhury’s wishes, he will be buried beside his wife at Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals’ Graveyard.
