Rab claimed to have arrested a leader of banned militant group Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) during a drive at a hideout in Dhaka's Bosila area this morning.

The arrestee, Emdadul Haque alias Uzzal Master, is a key leader of the militant group, Khandaker Al Moin, Rab's Legal and Media wing director told a press briefing on the spot.

Based on information given by the militants arrested in Mymensingh recently, Rab members cordoned off the building around 3:30am and brought him out around 7:00am.

Rab claimed to have recovered firearms, chemicals used to make bombs, bulletproof vest and Tk 3 lakh in cash from the hideout.

Quoting the security guard of the building, the Rab official said two people -- claiming to be employees of a printing press -- rented the flat on the first floor on September 2.

Giving Tk 5,000 advance as house rent, they told the house owner that they will give copies of their NID cards after their family members arrive within a couple of days, he said.

"We only arrested Emdadul, but the security guard said two other people used to stay here who left the house yesterday," Moin said.

Rab will hold a press briefing at its media centre in the afternoon.
