At least 10 people have received multiple burn injuries when a gas line exploded on the road adjacent to Armanitola ground in the city's Old Dhaka.
The incident took place at around 4:15pm on Wednesday.
Three of the 10 burn victims have been admitted to Mitford Hospital in the capital.
Bangshal Police Station OC Shahin Fakir confirmed the matter.
Anis, a telephone operator at the Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters, said the explosion was caused by accumulated gas in a manhole on Armanitola road. Two fire fighting units went to the spot. The fire service is working at the spot. The situation there is under control.
