COVID-19 claims 21 more, infects 1,383 in Bangladesh

The health authorities recorded 21 more COVID-19 deaths and 1,383 news cases in the past 24 hours until Friday morning.

The caseload jumped to 3,56,767 as the death toll reached 5,093.

Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18.

According to a handout from the Directorate General of Health Services, 1,88,8,010 tests have so far been carried out and 12,473 of them in the last 24 hours.

So far, 18.9 per cent of the total tests turned out to be positive.

Some 1,932 patients recovered from COVID-19 totalling the recovery to 2,67,024.
