Law enforcement agencies detained two suspects in connection with the attack on Dinajpur Ghoraghat upazila nirbahi officer Wahida Khanam.
One of them Asadul Haq, 35, is the prime suspect in the attack, said police.
The officer-in-charge of Hakimpur police station under Dinajpur, Ferdaus Wahid, told New Age that they had detained Asadul in Kaliganj area of Hili at about 5:00am early Friday.
Meanwhile, a team of RAB detained another suspect in the attack incident, said RAB-13 Dinajpur camp company commander Abdullah Al Mamun
The RAB officer said that they will disclose details after primary interrogation.
Dinajpur Ghoraghat upazila nirbahi officer Wahida is in a critical condition after unidentified assailants broke into her official residence in the upazila town in Dinajpur and attacked her, leaving her with a serious head injury early Thursday.
Her father was also injured in the attack. They were taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital.
Later, the UNO was airlifted from Rangpur to Dhaka by a Bangladesh Air Force MI-171SH helicopter.
She was admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, Dhaka.
