Total 1003 doctors among the infected
A total 3,164 healthcare professionals, including 1003 doctors, have so far tested positive for Covid-19 across the country, according to the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA).
Among the infected, 33 doctors of government and private hospitals have died after showing symptoms of Covid-19. Four of the deceased were female doctors.
As many as 853 nurses and 1,308 other healthcare professionals have been diagnosed with Covid-19 as of Saturday afternoon, according to the estimates of BMA. About 1,000 of them were infected in Dhaka city, 275 in Mymensingh, 136 in Narayanganj and 128 in Kishoreganj.
Among the doctors, 408 were infected in Dhaka city, 75 in Mymensingh, 59 in Kishoreganj and 52 in Sylhet.

The highest 104 doctors infected were of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, followed by 103 of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and 56 of Sir Salimullah Medical College.
In the 24 hours to Saturday, Bangladesh reported 2,856 fresh cases and 44 new deaths, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The total number of cases in the country now stands at 84,379 with 1,139 deaths.
