Awami League Presidium member and former health minister Mohammed Nasim was laid to eternal rest this morning (June 14).
He was buried at the Banani Graveyard at 10: 57 following two namaj-e-janazas - first at the Sobhanbagh Masjid and second one at Banani graveyard mosque.
Earlier, the veteran Awami League leader was given state guard of honour.
Nasim, also spokesperson for the AL-led 14-party alliance, passed away at Bangladesh Specialised Hospital in the capital on Saturday.
He was elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Sirajganj-1 constituency for fifth times.
President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, among others, condoled the death of Nasim, son of Captain Mansur Ali, one of the four national leaders and very close associate of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Born on April 2 in 1948, he served as minister of health and family welfare and minister of home affairs during 2014–2019 and 1999–2001 periods respectively.
Mohammed Nasim suffered a stroke on June 5 following a stroke while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Later, he underwent a surgery on emergency basis.
