Star Cineplex's theatres at Bashundhara City Shopping Complex are going to be closed for good as their contract with the mall authorities is about to end this month.
Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, marketing and public relations officer of Star Cineplex, confirmed the matter to The Business Standard today.
He said, "Star Cineplex will be closed at Bashundhara mall. Cineplex had a contract with the Bashundhara Mall, which expires on September 30. The mall authorities have sent a letter to Star Cineplex telling to vacate the space."
"Bashundhara authorities are not interested in extending the contract with Star Cineplex. We requested them a lot, but they have other plans for the space," he added.
Due to the pandemic situation, all the branches of Cineplex were shut down from March 20. Bashundhara Star Cineplex comprised of six halls and has a seat capacity of 1,626.
