Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal Wednesday said that the construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge would miss the present deadline of June 2021 due to COVID-19 outbreak.
He said the construction work would now finish in 2022.
Mustafa Kamal informed this while taking to reporters in an online briefing after the meeting of cabinet committee on economic affairs and national purchases.
Everything was going in the right direction until the COVID-19 changed many things, he said.
He said they had to extend the consultancy of a South Korean firm supervising the bridge construction and river training by 34 months until June 2023.
