Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said public transport movement will continue during Eid-ul-Azha .
“ I want to make it clear that all kinds of public transport will be operated while the operation of goods-laden vehicles will remain suspended like the previous years three days before and after Eid,” he said while talking at a regular press briefing.
However, the movement of vehicles providing emergency services, perishable goods laden vehicles, medicine, garment equipment and cattle-laden vehicles will remain out of the purview of the decision.
He also urged all to adopt highest cautionary measures during Eid journey.
He also urged all to maintain health guidelines otherwise the joy of Eid will turn into a nightmare as the experts have warned that the coronavirus cases may rise further if the health guidelines are not followed.
The Awami League leader Obaidul Quader came up with the information one day after confusion was created over the operation of public transport after statements of State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in this regard .
At the beginning of a meeting at the secretariat on Wednesday , Khalid said that public transport will remain shut down. But after the meeting, he changed his statement and said only goods-laden vehicles will be shut for nine days.
