Lawyer Killed in Chattogram: Rally Called at Shaheed Minar Today

Saiful Islam Alif, a lawyer, was killed on Tuesday (November 26) during clashes surrounding demands for the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson of the Sammilito Sanatani Jagaran Jote, in the Laldighi area under Kotwali police station in Chattogram city.

 

In response to the incident, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement called for the arrest and prosecution of those involved. Later that night, the organization announced via a Facebook post a memorial and harmony rally to be held at the central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka on Wednesday (November 27).


The post stated, "We will transform the grief of our fallen brother into the strength of unity and harmony."

 

A poster shared with the post mentioned that the memorial and harmony rally in honor of Advocate Saiful Islam Alif, who was martyred at the hands of extremist terrorists, will take place at 2 PM at the central Shaheed Minar.

Earlier, on Tuesday (November 26), followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das staged a protest in the court premises after his bail was denied. During the ensuing clash, lawyer Saiful Islam Alif lost his life. However, the identity of those responsible for the death has not yet been confirmed.


The coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Hasnat Abdullah, posted on Facebook on Tuesday (November 26), demanding swift arrests and justice for those involved in the killing.

 

In his post, he wrote, "If any specific organization is found to be involved in this murder, action must be taken against that organization."
