Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)'s newly appointed Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat ​​Ali said that if there is a complaint of not taking a reasonable case, the OC will be suspended (dismissed) within a minute.
 

He revealed this warning at a meeting with auto-rickshaw, auto-van, and easy-bike drivers at the DMP headquarters on Monday (November 25).

At the meeting, a rickshaw driver said, "I was beaten up in the Kamrangirchar area on Sunday." The DMP Commissioner said, "Why didn't you file a case? If the case is actionable, the OC must take the case. If the case is not taken, the OC of that police station will be suspended (dismissed) within a minute."

Regarding extortion, Sajjat ​​Ali said, "No one can take the hard-earned money of the poor. There will be no extortion in rickshaws and vans. There is no protection if a police officer is involved in extortion. Action will be taken if someone snatches the hard-earned money of the poor."

At this time, without commenting on the movement of battery-run rickshaws in the capital, he said, "This matter will be raised in the chamber court in the afternoon. So you will have to wait until the afternoon."

Earlier, DMP Commissioner Sajjat ​​Ali held a meeting with a delegation of rickshaw pullers to protest against the ban on battery-run rickshaws, including various demands.

It is worth noting that on November 19, the High Court bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Mahmudur Razi ordered the movement of battery-run rickshaws in the Dhaka Metropolitan Area to be stopped within three days. Battery-run rickshaw pullers have been protesting in different areas of the capital since the day after the High Court's order.
