Anti-discrimination student movement convener Hasnat Abdullah and coordinator Sarjis Alam asked the agitators to move out of the Bangabhaban area and assuring that the new president would be elected within this week and Shahabuddin would be deposed.

Hasnat Abdullah said from the Bangabhaban area on Tuesday night, that if we dispose of Md. Shahabuddin at this moment there will be a constitutional vacuum. The police and the army are our allies. The police and the army are our allies. If you take a stand against them, the country will be involved in a civil war. So after discussing with all the political parties, we will decide who will be the next president.

He also said that the army chief is not in the country now. After he arrives in the country, the new president will be elected after discussing with him.

Sarjis Alam, a coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said, "We have given two days to the government. We have respect for all those who have come here with the demand for the President's resignation."

However, Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary of the Chief Adviser said, no decision has been taken yet by the government regarding the resignation of the President.

He said this to the media in front of the chief adviser's residence Jamuna on Wednesday.

When asked about the government's stand on the demand for the President's resignation, he said, 'We are repeatedly urging those who are protesting (on this demand) to move away from the vicinity of Bangabhaban. The security around Bangabhaban has also been increased since yesterday.'

He said, "No decision has been made yet on the resignation of the president."

A seven-day ultimatum was given yesterday demanding the resignation of the president and leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement. When asked about the government's position in this regard, Shafiqul said, 'Ask those who are giving this ultimatum.'

When asked how the government is considering the resignation demand, he said, 'Many kinds of demands are made in many places. We do not address all of them.'
