Arrest Warrants Issued for Sheikh Hasina

The International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 44 others in separate cases related to genocide and crimes against humanity committed in July and August. Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tazul Islam confirmed that the arrest warrants have been sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

  

The Chief Prosecutor provided this information on Wednesday (October 23).


The tribunal is expected to resume hearings in its main building after renovation work concludes by November 3.

 

On October 17, the tribunal issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and others, including:

 

Sheikh Rehana (Hasina's sister)
Mohammad A. Arafat, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Anisul Haque, Dipu Moni, AKM Mozammel Haque (ministers in Hasina’s cabinet)
Sajeeb Wazed Joy (Hasina’s son)
Former ministers Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Sheikh Selim
Barrister Fazle Noor Taposh, Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash
Former IGP Abdullah Mamun, former DMP officer Harun-ur-Rashid, Biplob Kumar Sarkar, Pralay Kumar Joarder, Habibur Rahman
Former RAB Director General Harun-ur-Rashid and military officer Ziaul Ahsan
Tareque Anam Siddiqui (former advisor to Hasina)
Justice Manik, Dr. Zafar Iqbal, and Monirul Islam (former police officer).
The tribunal's three-judge bench, led by Chairman Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Majumder and comprising Justices Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury, issued the order.
