Dr Yunus Gets Permission to Appeal

Dr Muhammad Yunus, the chairman of Grameen Telecom organization, Nobel laureate, and chief advisor of the interim government, challenged the validity of the complaint in the case of dividend embezzlement of Grameen Telecom labor employees, has been allowed to appeal by the Supreme Court.

 
At the same time, November 19 has been fixed for the hearing of the appeal.


The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed gave this order on Monday (October 21).


Barrister Abdullah Al Mamun appeared for Yunus and Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman heard on behalf of the state in the court at this time.


Earlier on July 24, the legality of the complaint was challenged by Dr Yunus but the High Court rejected the application. The trial court was directed to dispose of the case within a year.


The High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain gave this order.


Later, Dr Yunus applied to the Appellate Division against the order of the High Court.
