Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex of Bhola district is plagued with various problems including shortage of doctors, nurses, technicians, manpower shortage, lack of necessary equipment, lack of proper use of what is available. Medical services are severely disrupted. The X-ray machine has not been used for 1 day since it was brought to the hospital in 2001Due to the lack of technicians and manpower, equipments worth of money are getting wasted. Lalmohan Hospital in Bhola district has been upgraded from 31 beds to 50 beds but the quality of service has not improved.  This information is known through the land and victims, the general public and the Upazila Health and Welfare Officer Dr. Taibur Rahman. 

In 2001, when the X-ray machine was brought to the hospital, it was not used for a single day only because of the shortage of technicians. Due to which the X-ray machine has become useless. UHFPO doctor Tyybur Rahman said that the ECG machine is also in the same condition even if it is turned on for some days, but it is often idle due to which the patients are deprived of the service. Although the hospital has X-ray and ECG machines, they are not operational due to lack of technicians. In this patients are forced to undergo tests from outside diagnostic or clinic. Additional money has to be calculated. The x-ray test which used to cost 100 in the hospital has to be done outside 600 to 700 taka, the cost of ECG is only 60 taka, it needs to be done outside 300 taka. Thus, the patients have to get medical services by paying several times more money outside. 

Although there are all the tools to start the consultant operation theater, it cannot be started due to the absence of consultants. Many times because of the absence of the authorities at the workplace, many people think that the subordinates are not performing their duties properly. Someone who did not disclose his name said that the UHFPO sir here does not stay regularly, he comes and goes in a hurry with his attendance. Even if he had done some monitoring regularly in the morning and afternoon, the patients would have received a little better health care. 

Moreover, it has been observed that there is a high incidence of brokering of diagnostics in hospitals and no effective measures are taken to prevent it. Agents of various diagnostic centers are roaming around the hospital. Due to waterlogging due to lack of cleanliness, the cause of dengue disease is enough. The general public including the patients have to hold their noses in the front and side of the hospital due to the rotten stench. When asked about this, the hospital authorities said that the reason for not having sufficient drainage system. The budget for cleanliness is also insufficient.
They said that there are not enough CCTV cameras in the hospital, fragile boundaries, abandoned buildings - which are sanctuaries for criminals and lack of strict security. Outsiders hang out at night. However, due to shortage of manpower, medical services are severely hampered. Patients are being deprived of getting the necessary services from this institution established to treat about 3 lakh people of the upazila. Due to this, the patients of this upazila are forced to go to Bhola-Barisal Dhaka. As a result, patients have to pay thousands of rupees and face various problems. 
Suffering is increasing especially due to lack of gynecologists and paediatricians. Doctors are advising children or women to go to the district headquarters or Barisal for treatment if there is any complex problem. Their only excuse is that there are no doctors and manpower required to provide the necessary treatment. Heart failure patients are the most affected. 

According to hospital sources, 8 out of 30 posts of doctors are working in the 50-bed Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex. There are 22 vacancies out of 32 nurses. Among them, the posts of important doctors like medicine, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopedics, cardiology, ophthalmology and anesthesia are vacant. Apart from this, the post of nurse is vacant. There are 32 posts of senior staff nurses in the hospital but only 20 are working. Not only this, several posts of Class IV employees are also vacant. Among them there are vacant posts of ward boy, office assistant, a gardener and cleaner. There is also a shortage of technicians. UHFPO doctor Tyybur Rahman said the same situation with the ECG machine. Although the hospital had X-ray and ECG machines, they could not be operated due to lack of technicians. In this, patients are forced to undergo tests from diagnostic or clinic for the sake of treatment. Additional money has to be calculated. Due to the lack of money, the poor and helpless cannot get treatment. People's question is what is the benefit of buying medical equipment and keeping it in the hospital by spending crores of rupees in the country. 

According to hospital sources, no operation is being done in the hospital for the last five years. Although minor cuts are treated, there is no service for critical patients in the hospital. They are being sent to Bhola, Barisal, Dhaka. Operation is stopped due to lack of anesthesia.

The hospital receives an average of hundreds of outdoor patients and 30 to 35 indoor admissions per day. Working doctors-nurses have to struggle to treat these patients.
The patient who came to the hospital for treatment said that his brother's leg was broken due to a tempu accident. On arrival at the hospital, the doctor on duty asked to do an X-ray of the foot. Reasons for not having x-rays in government hospitals

Resident Medical Doctor (RMO) Dr. about the situation in the hospital. Md. Mohsin Khan also said the same thing "The crisis of doctors and nurses, technicians has been going on for a long timeWe have reported the matter to higher authorities, but no action has been taken yet. On the other hand we are facing a lot of problems as the posts of third and fourth class employees are vacant.

Bhola civil surgeon Dr. Shafiquzzaman told Inkilab that there are many doctor problems in Bhola and no doctor wants to be a nurse in Bhola. What's strange is that we don't even know how they get transferred if we don't do any forwarding.He informed the UHFPO that the X-ray machine was not being used for one day since 2001, but it was installed but not being used for 1 day, which was reported to the authorities many times but to no avail. Apart from that Lalmohan's H&FPO Dr Taibur Rahman does not stay at the hospital. For which there are many problems. He and the Barisal divisional officer have been informed about this through letters. But even though he does not go regularly, he comes to his house in Bhola after 1 pm on the day he goes. If Lalmohan UHFPO informs him through a letter about the problem of the hospital, he will inform the higher authorities and try to take necessary arrangements.

Lalmohan Upazila 3 aims to live in the people. The hospital is their only hope for healthcare. And if this is the case in the hospital, how can people get medical care? This question Lalmohan health services deprived 3 target people.

 
Therefore, the residents of Lalmohan are expecting that the authorities will ensure health care by solving the manpower crisis including doctors, nurses, technicians in the hospital as soon as possible.
