Bangladesh will export around 3,000 tonnes of hilsa to India marking the upcoming Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community scheduled to be held next month.
This information was revealed in the press release of the Ministry of Commerce on Saturday (September 21).
Applicants are advised to contact the concerned department of the Ministry of Commerce to obtain an export permit.
Earlier, the interim government had decided not to export hilsa to India this year to boost domestic supply.
In 2023, the ministry had permitted 79 companies to export 50 tonnes of hilsa each, totaling around 4,000 tonnes to India on the occasion of Durga Puja.
