Financial advisor Dr Salehuddin Ahmed stated that strict action is being taken against chiefs of the financial sector. He said that as there is no opportunity to whiten black money, NBR will catch the money launderers easily.
The advisor stated these in response to a question after the meeting of the Bangladesh Institute of Governance Management (BIGM) at the capital's Agargaon area on Saturday (September 7).
The Finance Advisor further said that the DCs have been directed to be strict against extortionists. "I hope that if the extortion decreases, the price of daily commodities will decrease. Taxes on potatoes and onions have been reduced. The price should not be seen only in Kawran Bazar, other markets should be seen.
Regarding industrial factories, the advisor said that discussions are going on with the owners, workers, and political parties to reduce the instability of the garment sector. It will be resolved soon.
Regarding the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, he said that one unit should be commissioned first. After that, the work of the second unit will begin.
