52 died in 11 districts due to Floods

The death toll has risen to 52 in the ongoing floods in 11 districts of the southeastern part of Bangladesh.

KM Ali Reza, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, gave this information in a press briefing about the flood situation on Thursday (August 29).

He said that a total of 52 people died in the flood. There are 39 men, 6 women, and 7 children among them. Among those 52 people, 14 died in Comilla, 17 in Feni, 6 in Chattogram, 1 in Khagrachari, 8 in Noakhali, 1 in Brahmanbaria, 1 in Lakshmipur, 3 in Cox's Bazar and one in Moulvibazar.

KM Ali Reza said that currently, the number of people trapped in water has decreased to 10 lakh 72 thousand 579. Besides, the number of affected people is 54 lakh 80 thousand 463. Besides, the highest number of deaths occurred in Feni, 17. 14 people lost their lives in Cumilla.

He further said that relief work is still going on for the flood victims and there is an outbreak of diseases after the flood. Careful medical care has been ordered in that regard. Additional Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry also said there is no flood danger in North Bengal. He said as reason, there was no rain upstream. He also noted that many people including administration, students, and NGO representatives have worked together in this flood.
