The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has announced that all government primary schools across Bangladesh, except those in the 12 city corporations and municipal areas of Narsingdi district, will resume operation from Sunday.

This directive also applies to primary schools managed by the Child Welfare Trust and learning centers overseen by the Bureau of Non-Formal Education, which will follow their approved class schedules.

Farid Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, confirmed the decision in a statement to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.

A formal notice regarding this decision has also been issued.

Ahmed noted that while schools follow their approved schedules, flexibility will be allowed due to ongoing curfew restrictions in various districts.

District Primary Education Officers are authorized to adjust learning schedules as needed based on local conditions and curfew timings.

The government declared an indefinite closure of all government primary schools on July 16 due to the violence and emerging situation surrounding the quota reform movement.

The closure was implemented to ensure the safety of students.

At that time, the Ministry of Education also announced the suspension of classes in all secondary and higher secondary educational institutions (schools, colleges, madrasas, and technical institutes) and polytechnic institutes until further notice.
