Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s additional commissioner (DB chief) Mohammad Harun-ar-Rashid has said a leader gave Tk 4 lakh to Gono Odhikar Parishad president and former vice president of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Nurul Haque Nur during the quota reform movement.

DB police is trying to know that to whom the money was given and how the money was spent, he said.

The DB chief disclosed the information during a press conference at the DB office on Minto Road in the capital on Saturday (July 27) noon.

DB chief Harun said, “We placed Nur on remand and received important information from him. That information is being verified. Nur admitted one thing that a leader gave him Tk 4 lakh during the movement. We have also brought that leader. He admitted that he had given Tk 4 lakh to Nur.”

“We are interrogating that leader to know the real purpose behind giving Tk 4 lakh to Nur,” he said.
