Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) instructed the International Internet Gateway (IIG) operators to active Google’s cache server to increase internet speed across the country.
BTRC revealed the information in an instruction on Thursday.
BTRC also said the cache servers of Facebook and TikTok have been kept shut for now. However, YouTube will run as usual.
Sources said Meta’s social communication media Facebook will remain closed for avoiding government directions. However, if Facebook guarantees to comply with the government's instructions, then the government will decide on its operations.
Earlier, after five days, the broadband internet service was reopened, on an experimental basis on the night of July 23.
