Canada claimed a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Venezuela on Friday to reach the Copa América semi-finals for the first time. For that reason Messi's Argentina will play Canada in the semi finals of the 2024 Copa America.

 Canada beat Venezuela on penalties in Texas on Saturday (July 6). The match finished 1-1 at the scheduled time.

Canada played once in the group stage against Argentina. Both teams played in their first group-stage match on June 20 in Atlanta, with Argentina edging out a competitive 2-0 win over Canada.. However, the experience of that match will be very useful in the semis against strong opponents.

Argentina and Canada will play in a Copa America semifinal on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
