Bangladesh is the safest country in the world and there is no threat of militant attack in the country, said Harun-Ar-Rashid, Director General of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The RAB DG made the remarks while talking to reporters today (July 1)at Gulshan Model Police Station after paying homage to the victims of the Holey Artisan militant attack in 2016.
'We have no specific information of militant activities. The situation is largely under control,' he added.
The Rab chief said they are continuously monitoring the overall situation so that any militant groups cannot raise their ugly heads to unrest the peaceful situation.
Replying to a question on the activities of banned militant organization Ansar al-Islam, the Rab chief said they are constantly monitoring their physical and virtual activities regularly.
Notably, The militant attack on Holey Artisan Bakery in the capital's Gulshan on July 1, 2016 shocked the whole country. The militants killed 22 people, including 18 foreigners.
Meanwhile, Two police officers were killed while trying to prevent the attack. Later, eight militants, including the main planner of the attack, Tamim Chowdhury, were killed.
