A total of 1.27 crore vehicles crossed the Padma Bridge after its inauguration two years ago, said the road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday.

At a press briefing, he also said that total Tk 1,648 crore was collected as tolls from the bridge so far.

The cost of the bridge stood at Tk 32,605 crore, he said and added that so far the Bridges Division paid Tk 948 crore to the Finance Divison in six installments.

Around three crore people of the 21 south-western districts were being benefited by the bridge he added.

Among others, Bridges Division secretary Monjur Ahmed and Road Transport and Highways Division secretary ABM Amin Ullah Nuri attended the press briefing.
