Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury will depart for Kenya on Monday ‍afternoon to attend the high-level segment of the 6th Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly in Nairobi.

The theme of this year’s UNEP Assembly is “Effective, inclusive and sustainable multilateral actions to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution.” The UNEP Assembly is being held at a time when the world is confronting triple planetary emergency of climate change, nature and biodiversity loss and (plastic) pollution.

According to a press release of the ministry, Saber Hossain will actively engage in the high-level segment of the assembly, deliver Bangladesh's country statement and showcase the country’s successes in locally-led adaptation.

He will highlight the importance of global unity and action, along with the need for national initiative and ownership in environmental protection.

The minister is scheduled to return home on March 3 after attending the UN Environment Assembly.
