Sheikh Hasina is set to visit Germany on her first trip abroad since taking charge as prime minister for the fourth straight term.

She would go there in mid-February to attend the Munich Security Conference 2024, Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said on Thursday.

The conference will take place from February 16- 18 at Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich.

The 2024 edition of the conference offers a unique opportunity for high-level debates on the world’s most pressing security challenges.

Additionally, the Munich Security Conference, founded in the fall of 1963, will celebrate its 60th anniversary up to and during the next main conference.

Six decades after its founding by Ewald von Kleist, the Munich Security Conference will once again assemble senior decision-makers and thought leaders from around the world for discussions on the most pressing international security concerns in February.

The details of the visit had yet to be finalized, the foreign minister said while briefing journalists after meeting with the French and the German ambassadors in Dhaka.
