Terming BNP leader Tareque Rahman as the mastermind of all criminal activities, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that she would bring Tareque back home from London for punishment if Awami League comes to power through the January 7 national election.
“Tareque Rahman is the mastermind of all ongoing violence and sabotage. We will bring him (Tareque) back home for punishment if we come to power in the election,” she said.
Hasina, also president of the ruling Awami League, said this while addressing an election rally held at Tungipara Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Government College ground on Saturday.
BNP is a party of killers while Jamaat is a party of people who are held responsible for crimes against humanity, Hasina said citing the atrocities being carried out by them ahead of the national election.
BNP-Jamaat cannot foster the country’s development, Hasina said, adding that BNP plunders people’s money when it comes to power.
The party also creates hindrances when Awami League works to bring changes in people's fate after taking charge of the state, she said
She said that there are conspiracies from both internal and external levels being hatched aiming at halting the upcoming national election and bringing a third party in the state power. “We will pay a suitable reply to the conspirators through the January 7 national election,” he said.
From her ancestral house in Gopalganj, she, along with her younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, reached the rally venue around 11:20 am on Saturday.
Awami League activists and supporters flocked to the party’s rally venue at Tungipara.
Sheikh Hasina came to Tungipara from Barisal by road after attending an election rally in Barisal on Friday.
She stayed at her home at night.
