The family of the victim held a press conference in connection with the case of assault demanding payment for the construction of a house purchased in Panchagarh.

The victim's family members held a press conference at Dokropara of Ward No. 1 of Panchagarh Municipality on Tuesday (January 3) 2023 at the house under construction. In the press conference, the victim, Md.

Abu Bakar Siddique, said to the present journalists, I bought the 5th century on the deed of Ruksana Begum's usufructuary land on 16/02/1989. And in 1997 I bought half a century of land from Lutfar and Nurjahan.

Since then 5.50 centuries land has been occupied. Then in 1997-98 when the RS was recorded from SA, as there was no objection, the land was occupied by recording the RS in my own name.

In this situation, some miscreants including local residents Sohail Rana and Jewel Rana demanded a huge amount of money from me. Non-payment often leads to assaults and lawsuits against us. The attackers filed a case in court claiming ownership of the land, but the verdict went against them.

After demolishing the old house and starting construction of new house, their attacks increased several times. Even after getting legal help, I was not freed from their torture.

Recently, the police arrested 4 people in connection with the attack. When they started building the house on Monday, they threw bricks at the workers. The assailants started mercilessly torturing us without regard to the courts of law. We are people of independent country. I want to live independently.

We want justice for this injustice. At the end of the press conference, the councilor of Ward No. 1 of Panchagarh municipality appeared on the spot and prohibited the workers from working. At this time, he said, it will be resolved through discussion.

Panchagarh Sadar police station officer Abdul Latif Mia said, "We visit the spot based on the complaint and take legal action." Two cases were registered in the police station against the complainants.

We have arrested some of the accused. They were sent to jail through the court. They were later released on bail. However, those who violate law and order based on trivial incidents will not be exempted.
