Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open 2022 begins Nov 22

The ‘Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open 2022’, one of the Asian Tour’s emerging tournaments with huge growth potential, is going to take place in Bangladesh this month. 

The Sikder Group as well as the National Bank Limited is sponsoring the event, while Bangladesh Golf Federation is organising the international event. Players from 23 countries will take part in the ‘Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open 2022’. 

The Asian Tour tournament is scheduled to begin at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka Cantonment from November 22. Logo and trophy unveiling ceremony of the mega professional event of golf will be held at 7:00 pm on November 22. The unveiling will end following a cultural event.  

Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh Army and president of Bangladesh Gold Federation General S M Shafiuddin Ahmed is scheduled to attend the logo and trophy unveiling ceremony as the chief guest. 

Chairman of R&R Aviation and Holdings Ltd & PowerPac Holdings Ltd (Sikder Group) Rick Haque Sikder and Managing Director of R&R Aviation and Holdings Ltd & PowerPac Holdings Ltd (Sikder Group) Ron Haque Sikder will also attend the function as special guests.

Senior vice president of Bangladesh Golf Federation Major General Md Zahirul Islam, is the chairman of organizing committee of Bangabandhu Cup Golf Open 2022. 

The mega professional event was originally scheduled to be held from December 21 to 24 before it was rescheduled in response to the request from Asian Tour. This prestigious Asian Tour event, which was last staged in 2019, is offering US$400,000 prize money. 

The event was postponed in 2020 and 2021 because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
