State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Sunday said the government has taken an initiative to provide 4th class employee status to the 46,000 village police members across the country.

"Discussion will be held with the Finance Minister in this regard," he said while distributing bicycles among 102 village police members at Singra upazila court premises.

He also urged the village police to perform their duties carefully.

Singra Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nasrin Banu and officials concerned of local administration were present at the programme.

The state minister also distributed sewing machines among destitute women and wheelchairs among the physically challenged people.
