According to a BGMEA letter, gas pressure significantly decreases after 8am and returns to normal after 11pm
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has requested the government to immediately ensure an uninterrupted gas supply to apparel factories.
In this regard, the top apparel organization wrote two letters to the state minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid and the Prime Minister's Energy Adviser Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, noting that the apparel production is being hampered by low-pressure and irregular gas supply.
According to the letter, gas pressure significantly decreases after 8am and returns to normal after 11pm. Availability of gas after 11pm comes to no use because the factories are already closed by that time.
In order to protect the sector that generates the most foreign exchange for the nation, the association urged the government to guarantee a continuous gas supply.
