Renowned writer-translator Sheikh Abdul Hakim passed away at his residence in Bangladesh capital’s Madartek area Saturday afternoon.

‘Sheikh Abdul Hakim was suffering from old-age complications. Besides, he had breathing problems. He died at around 1:00pm,’ poet and novelist Mashrur Arefin told FP.

 
Sheikh Abdul Hakim was born in Hooghly, West Bengal, India in 1946. After the partition of Indian subcontinent, his family shifted to the then East Pakistan.

Sheikh Abdul Hakim-penned literary works include Teknaf Formula, Jutor Bhetor Kar Paa, Jol Dao Jol, Muthor Bhetor Telesmati, Riju Sylhetir Pranay, Atangka, Idea, Titlir Ajana, Labdha Saikat, Jyanta Atit, Chandrahata, Sonali Bullet, Kamini.

On June 14, 2020, the Copyright Registrar in a verdict asked publishing house Seba Prokashoni to stop printing, publishing and selling of popular spy thrillers of Masud Rana series and declared Sheikh Abdul Hakim as the writer of 260 books of the series.
