The seven-day "strict lockdown" around the country started this morning.
In Gulshan-2, members of army set up a check post and were seen making announcements on loudspeaker urging all to stay at home during the strict lockdown and cautioning them to abide by the health rules.
There were police check posts on most of the intersections in the city, including near Prime Minister's Office, Jahangir Gate, Kakoli, Paltan, Mirpur and Gabtoli, reported our journalists.
One of the busiest points of Dhaka, Farmgate was remarkably vacant. Only a few rickshaws were seen here and there.

Streets were mostly empty due to the absence of public transports at Bijoy Sarani and Babu Bazar.
In Babu Bazar and Paltan, police were seen intercepting few CNG-run autorickshaws.
No roadside shops or markets along the main roads in Dhaka were open.
A few private cars were intercepted by police in Tejgaon and Gulshan-2 area.
Mobile courts were also active there.
