Bangladesh extends educational institution closure

The government has extended the ongoing closure of all educational institutions till May 29 considering the Covid situation.

The education ministry took the decision in consultation with the national technical advisory committee on the Covid-19, said a release of the ministry issued on Saturday.

All the secondary and higher secondary level institutions will remain closed till May 29, it said.

The educational activities conducted online would, however, continue as usual, said the release.

The decision was taken considering health and overall safety of the students, teachers, employees and guardians of the students, the release said and hoped that all of them would abide by health rules.

All educational institutions have remained closed since March 18, 2020 due to the Covid outbreak in the country.

Closure of educational institutions was extended in phases till May 22.
