Jahangirnagar University’s international relations department Professor Tareque Shamsur Rahman was found dead at his house at Uttara in Dhaka on Saturday.
Tareque was used to live at the RAJUK Uttara Apartment Project, said RAJUK engineer Md Mozaffar Hossain.
‘His domestic help went to his flat in the morning but couldn’t enter even after repeated attempts as the door was locked from the inside and he was not responding to the calling bell rings,’ Mozaffar said.
Other residents of the building also tried to reach him over phone, but he didn’t respond.
Later, a team of the Turag police entered the house breaking the door and found that his body was lying on the floor in front of the bathroom.
Turag police officer-in-charge Mehedi Hasan said that the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
