The High Court on Tuesday asked bdnews24.com editor-in-chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi to explain in 10 days why his bail that was granted by the lower court in a money-laundering case would not be cancelled.
The virtual bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel issued the rule.
Anti-Corruption Commission sought cancellation of Khalidi’s bail granted by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special judge KM Emrul Kayes on October 20.
Earlier, another High Court bench granted eight-week bail to Khalidi and the Appellate Division later upheld his bail.
ACC on July 30 sued Khalidi on charge of amassing Tk 40 crore beyond his known sources of income.
