The total number of coronavirus cases in Bangladesh has risen to 90,619 while the death toll from the virus infection has gone up to 1,209, according to the figures released by the DGHS on Monday.
In the past 24 hours, 3,099 new cases and 38 deaths were reported, said additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Nasima Sultana at a regular briefing in the afternoon.
She also said a total of 15,038 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. Of them, 3,099 were diagnosed with COVID-19 which is 20.61 per cent.
Bangladesh is now 10th in the world both in daily and weekly increase in new coronavirus cases, according to the World Health Organization (WHO) coronavirus (COVID-19) dashboard.

According to the DGHS briefing, only three patients of coronavirus made recovery across the country during the time.
The total number of recoveries has reached 34,027, the DGHS official added. Total recovery till Sunday was 18,730.
The current recovery rate is 37.55 per cent, Nasima Sultana said.
Nasima Sultana added that so far 34,027 people have recovered from the deadly disease.
Bangladesh confirmed its first COVID-19 cases on 8 March and the first death on 18 March but it has been seeing a sharp rise in both new cases and deaths in recent weeks.
