Abdullah was buried next to his parents' graves
State minister for Religious Affairs Ministry Sheikh Md Abdullah was buried beside his parents’ graves at his village in Gopalganj after Asr prayers on Sunday.
His body was brought to the district from Dhaka and he was buried with state honours at his family graveyard at Kekania village under the Sadar upazila after a namaz-e-janaza (funeral prayer) on the premises of the mosque adjacent to his home.
The late politician is survived by his two wives, nine daughters, a son, and countless well-wishers.
His namaz-e-janaza was attended by his family members, district and upazila administration personnel, police officials, district and upazila level Awami League leaders, and the villagers, while maintaining social distancing.
The state minister passed away late Saturday night at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital at the age of 74.

"He breathed his last at 11:45pm (on Saturday) at CMH," a personal aide to the state minister said.
Abdullah was Awami League's religious affairs secretary as well, while he hailed from Gopalganj, the ancestral home district of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed their deep shock at his demise while they prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
“He [Abdullah] was a popular leader, he earned the love of people at grassroots,” the prime minister said on Sunday.
Sheikh Hasina also recalled Abdullah’s outstanding contributions to the great Liberation War and Awami League with profound respect.
