Bangladesh cricketers can be aware of what is happening in the cricketing fraternity with the bio-secure bubble in place as they are waiting to return to international cricket after a five-month corona-enforced break.
It will be a totally new experience for Tigers and it is being deemed a very tough thing for them to be captive in the bio-secure bubbles considering they have not been through it earlier.
For example, England paceman Jofra Archer took a stopover in his home on the way to Manchester and was accused of breaking the protocols of the bio-security bubbles after which the pacer was dropped from Old Trafford just a few hours before the announcement of the England squad.
Recently Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez had to go for five-day isolation for the same offense in the United Kingdom (UK) and these just a couple of examples as there are many more in the same line.
According to national cricketers, it will be tough as they won’t be able to meet their family members for a period over a week-long as they have to enter into the bio-security bubbles within one-two days after the first phase COVID-19 tests on September 18.
“We went on a longer tour and we have a vast amount of experience to pass our time without family but this time the matter is that there is no way to get close with family despite having stayed in the country,” a cricketer told The Daily Sun recently.
The players of the national team and High Performance team are scheduled to accommodate in the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in the capital on September 20 and before leaving Dhaka for Colombo, the Hotel Sonargaon will be their mailing address for the next seven days.
They have to come and go at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur from the hotel while they can’t go out in the gap like the past occasions to meet with their family members during the time frame they are staying in the hotel ahead of the tour comprised with three-match Test series.
The same thing will happen in the Island nation and according to many cricketers they are well aware of the reality that they are expected to face in the coming days.
“There is nothing to do. And that’s the reality,” a cricketer said that looked like a joint statement of his teammates.
The players will get a chance to meet with their families before flying to Sri Lanka as the family members of the players may come to the Airport to meet with them. But that will happen by maintaining the social distance strictly.
Prior to their departure, they have to attend the second-phase corona tests on September 18. And the third-phase tests will be held three days before traveling to Sri Lanka and no one will be spared from the tests that include the boys and bus-drivers as well.
The Test series in Sri Lanka is slated to finish on November 12 and they have to stay at home quarantine for 14 days after returning home from Sri Lanka.
“Look, cricketers must understand the importance of living under the bio bubble in the new normal cricket as it is a prerequisite to play in the current time,” said BCB chief physician Debashis Chowdhury.
