Corona cases rise in Barishal division

A total of 4,890 people detected as corona positive, 2,509 cured after getting treatment and 97 died of corona in six districts of Barishal division till the report on Monday.

Out of the 4,890 corona-positive patients 2,124 were from Barishal, 869 from Patuakhali, 527 from Pirojpur, 511 from Barguna, 456 from Bhola and 403 from Jhalakathi districts.

Among them, 2,509 corona positive patients of the division got release certificates after cured by getting treatment in the division, said Dr Basudev Kumar Das, Divisional Health Director.

Out of 4,890 corona positive detected patients, 89 in six districts of Barishal division were newly infected by coronavirus within last 24-hours.

Besides, 128 in five districts of the division except Barguna were cured from covid-19 infection after treatment during this period, divisional health office sources said.

A total of ninety-seven patients died of coronavirus in the division including thirty-seven from Barishal district along with City Corporation, twenty-five from Patuakhali, twelve from Jhalakathi, ten from Barguna, eight from Pirojpur, five from Bhola districts, divisional health director added.

Divisional Health Directorate sources added that total 21,736 persons sent to home quarantine and 4,464 to institutional quarantine in six districts of the division including Barishal City Corporation since March 10 this year.

Among them, 18,565 completing home quarantine and 2,723 completing institutional quarantine received release certificates, Divisional Health Directorate sources said.

Dr Bakir Hossain, director Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital, informed total 1,780 patients were admitted at corona isolation units (CIU) at this and other public hospitals of the division and among them 1,364 released after getting treatment from there.
Out of the admitted patients at CIU of SBMCH total 147 were died and among them 55 with corona positive and other 92 with symptoms, he added.
