New decision; Govt raises scope for attending BCS exam to 4 times

The Government has decided that a person can participate in the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination a maximum of 4 times.

This was decided in the meeting of the advisory council at the office of the Chief Adviser in the capital’s Tejgaon on Thursday (October 31). Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus presided over the meeting.


This was informed in a press release sent by the Cabinet Division on this day.


The circular informs that, in the light of the Upper Age Limit Ordinance, 2024 for direct recruitment in Government, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous, Statutory Government Authorities, Public Non-Financial Corporations including Self-Governing Organizations, Section-59 of the ‘Government Employment Act, 2018’ – the Advisory Council has instructed to the Ministry of Public Administration regarding the amendment of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Examination for Age, Eligibility and Direct Recruitment) Act, 2014 by the Ministry of Public Administration in the form of adding a rule that “a candidate can participate in the BCS examination a maximum of four times”.


On Thursday (October 24) after the meeting of the Advisory Council, a press release of the Cabinet Division informed that a student can participate in the BCS examinations a maximum of three times. Various discussions and criticisms were created about this.
