The High Court (HC) today quashed the sedition case against BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in the capital’s Tejgaon police station.

The HC bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain passed the order on Thursday (October 31).

On 8 January 2015, a sedition case was filed against Tarique Rahman and Ekushey TV chairman Abdus Salam at Tejgaon police station, accusing them of threatening Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty by spreading false and misleading information.

Tarique Rahman was earlier acquitted in another sedition case in Noakhali. The court acquitted him from the case on August 21 as there was no evidence at the end of the testimony.
