Doctors have announced a complete shutdown across the country demanding justice and security of those involved in the beating and assaulting of doctors at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital.

They announced this on Sunday (September 1) afternoon.

The two demands of the doctors are: arrest those who involved within 24 hours and ensure security. Doctors of DMC said that the authorities have failed to accept both these demands. Along with 2-point demands, another 6-point demands they include.

They said that the program will be briefed after 2 pm.

Earlier, the doctors of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital stopped the medical services since morning, citing insecurity and demanding justice for the attack.

Yesterday (August 31) some unidentified youths beat up three doctors of the neurosurgery department in connection with the death of a patient while undergoing treatment. In this incident, the doctors identified the culprits after seeing the CCTV footage and gave an ultimatum to arrest them. Otherwise they announced that they will go on strike within 24 hours.

However, the doctors went on strike before the ultimatum expired.
