18 died in flood so far

So far 18 people have died in 11 districts of the country due to worst floods caused by incessant rains and India's upstream water. More than 49 lakh people have been affected by this flood so far.

Saturday (August 24), Md Kamrul Hasan, Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief revealed this information in a press conference about the flood situation.

The disaster secretary said that till now there are 11 flood affected districts. The total number of affected people in these districts is 49 lakh 38 thousand 159 people. Affected families are 9 lakh 44 thousand 548.

He said that so far 18 people have died in the flood. Among them, 4 died in Comilla, 1 in Feni, 5 in Chattogram, 3 in Noakhali, 1 in Brahmanbaria, 1 in Lakshmipur and 3 in Cox's Bazar.

Kamrul Hasan said that 3 thousand 527 shelters have been opened so far to deal with floods. 2 lakh 84 thousand 888 people have taken shelter in these shelter houses.
 
He said that a total of Tk 3 crore 52 lakh has been allocated in 11 flood affected districts. 20 thousand 150 tons of relief rice has been allocated. Apart from this, 15 thousand pieces of dry and other food packets have been allocated. 35 lakhs have been allotted for purchase of baby food and 35 lakhs for purchase of cow feed.
