Controversial former Army Officer Ziaul Ahsan arrested

Major General Ziaul Ahsan, who was discharged from the Bangladesh Army, has been arrested in the murder case at Dhaka's Newmarket police station. He was arrested on Friday (August 16).

Earlier, in a notification on August 6, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) informed about the dismissal of Major General Ziaul Ahsan.

Earlier on August 13, the organization of the relatives of the missing persons demanded the arrest of army officer Ziaul Ahsan 'Mayer Dak'. At the same time, the organization also said that it would file a case against those responsible including Ziaul Ahsan. And on August 6, an Emirates Airlines flight was searched for him. However, Major General Ziaul Ahsan was not found after searching the flight.

It is to be noted that the agitating students and opposition leaders had directly accused this former army officer of helping Sheikh Hasina in phone hacking and assassination.
