4 members of a family electrocuted in Mymensingh

Four members of a family died due to electrocution in Nandail of Mymensingh.

The incident occurred around 3:30pm in Ghoshpala village of Chandipasha union in the upazila .

The deceased were identified as Jamal Uddin (32), a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver of the area, his mother Anwara Begum (65), his two daughters Anika Akhter (4), and Most Faiza (6).

Jamal Uddin was a member of a poor family. He earned a living by driving an auto-rickshaw. He used to charge the auto-rickshaw himself at his residence. On Saturday, around 3:00pm, Jamal Uddin went to take out the auto-rickshaw from his house, said Shahab Uddin Bhuiyan, chairman of Chandipasha union.

Due to a lack of caution, the auto-rickshaw became electrified, and Jamal Uddin suffered an electric shock. Hearing his screaming, daughters Anika and Faiza ran to their father and also got electrocuted. At this time, Jamal Uddin's mother Anwara Begum went to rescue them and also got electrocuted, he added.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nandail Police Station Abdul Majid said four members of the same family died due to electrocution. The bodies were recovered, and legal procedures are underway to this end.
