Rohingya leader shot dead at Ukhiya camp

A Rohingya leader was shot dead allegedly by miscreants at a camp in Cox's Bazar's Ukhiya upazila early on Wednesday.

The deceased was Sahab Uddin, 35, son of Monir Ahmed, a resident of H-14 at Camp-12. He was a sub-majhi of the Rohingya community.

Armed Police Battalion (APBn) senior assistant superintendent (Media) Md Faruk Ahmed said some miscreants entered Shahab's house and shot at him around 5:00 am, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for an autopsy, said Ukhiya Police Station officer in-charge Sheikh Mohammad Ali.

Police and APBn members are in action to arrest the involved people, the officials added.
