Many Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) dealers are facing problems as they could not sell products on time.
They said this happened as the two city corporations could not finish distributing family cards in many wards.

As a result, the products have to be stored even after their sell-by dates, they added.
Md Rabbi, owner of Shahana Traders in the capital’s Moghbazar, said he had received TCB products on July 28 but could not sell those yet.
He said around 150 people entitled to family cards had not come to buy goods as many of them had not yet received the cards.
“Besides, many who received cards could not buy products as their allotments had already been sold.”
The head of TCB’s Dhaka regional office Md Humayun Kabir said many dealers had told them they were in trouble due to the non-cooperation of ward councillors.
“The councillors are not distributing family cards on time. We have also received complaints of mismanagement in card distribution in many wards.”
Meanwhile, dealers said a large amount of TCB onions are rotten. Besides, they said buyers do not want to buy low-quality imported onions due to the easy availability of domestic ones.
This had made it difficult to sell onions, they added.
