Bangladesh has a bright future: Indian envoy

Bangladesh has a bright future because it is a nation based on the idea of all Bangladeshis being one nation under one spirit, said , Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Vikram Kumar Doraiswami.

He was addressing a discussion organized by Bangladesh-India Friendship Society marking the Homecoming Day of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Sufia Kamal auditorium of National Museum in the capital on Saturday.

Doraiswami said, "Prosperity in our sub-region has come because of peace and cooperation between India and Bangladesh, sub-regional cooperation between the two largest nations in the eastern part of the subcontinent guarantees wealth and advancement for all."

 'We have settled boundary issue, a marine boundary issue, bilateral trade is at an all-time high, and Bangladesh is our largest development partner thanks to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's wise leadership," he continued.

Prime Minister's Power, Energy and Mineral Resources advisor Dr Tawfiq-E-Elahi Chowdhury said that Bangabandhu had struggled for two decades to make the country independent while Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh has been struggling for another two decades to bring the country from darkness to prosperity.

 Prime Minister's former Media Advisor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, General Secretary of BIFS Narayon Saha Moni and Publicity Secretary Saifullah Al Mamun, among others, were also present on the occasion.
